On self-loathing

Hatred of yourself is usually a tone of voice learned from someone else. Someone spoke to you that way once, and you mistook the voice for your own.

When the voice comes, ask whose it is. If a name comes up, hand the voice back to them. If no name comes, write the words on paper. Read them there and you will see they are words you would never say to a friend. If the voice comes every day, let a physician of the mind hear it too.
