On the hollow after an ending

The hollow feeling after something ends is proof that the thing was the frame of your days. Pull out the frame and the day sits down for a while. It has not collapsed. It is sitting.

Do not rush into the next thing. This week, set the finished thing down on one page: what you did, what you learned, who was with you. That page is the first joint of the next frame.

The games at Olympia ended after five days, and four empty years followed before the next. The Greeks gave those empty years a name too: an Olympiad.
