On fate
Fate is one name for two things: what you cannot change, and what you have not yet changed. Call them by the same name and you will change neither.
Divide what you call fate into two lines. Accept the line you cannot change. From the line you have not yet touched, choose one thing and lay a hand on it this week.
Zeus wished to save his son Sarpedon, yet did not alter the allotted portion. Instead he had Sleep and Death carry the body home. Even inside fate there was something to be done.
