On talking too much

The person who talks too much is the one who cannot bear an empty space. When the space is filled with words, no one else can enter it.

At your next gathering, after three sentences of your own, wait until the other person has said three. If the count is off, ask a question. The words grow fewer, and those that remain grow heavier.
