On the parent-teacher meeting

In front of the teacher you are not the child’s defense attorney. You are a witness on the same side. What you protect is not the child’s pride. It is the child’s next term.

Ask the child first, before the meeting. Prepare one thing to say to the teacher and one thing to hear. When you come home, pass on the good things you heard before anything else.
