On the noise you make

The ceiling of the people below is your floor. The sound of your walking becomes knocking in their home. Caring about it is already half the work.

Wear slippers indoors, put felt under the chair legs, and run the washer before ten at night. Then greet the people downstairs first. Noise from a known face sounds half as loud.
