Croesus was told that if he crossed the river, a great empire would fall. He crossed. The empire that fell was his own. The better the news, the more you must ask whose it is.

Read one certainty you received backward. Turn “it will go well” into “for whom will it go well”. If the answer is the same reversed, cross the river.
